Not the musical "Cabaret" but an actual CABARET.
Where a bunch of people dress in pretty clothes and sing Broadway songs while acting them out.
I participated in my school's Autumn Cabaret last night.
I sang Freddy, My Love from Grease (music & Lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey).
And I had backup singers, these girls Katie and Ashley, both Juniors and in Level Three (I'm a sophomore in Level One)
And this kid Triever (who I've known since last year and who's been in the same school with me since at least eighth grade) came in to ask Doug (Pianist/Theatre teacher who wasn't there) for sheet music.
Katie: Oh, Doug isn't here.
Triever: Is Ken here?
Katie: Oh, no. He's at a meeting.
Trever: Oh. What are you doing here?
Me: We're working on choreography for Freddy, My Love.
Katie: OHMYGOD YOU COULD BE FREDDY!!!
Triever: ' What?
Katie: Okay, stand here. And try to look cool. I know it's difficult for you, but try.
...and Ken (director of TAA and another Theatre teacher) actually liked the idea of Triever as Freddy, but instead of Katie's idea of him being in the back the entire time...
I had to sing to him. -_-
I don't know if you're aware, but Freddy, My Love has a very embarrassing line:
"Freddy you'll see, you'll hold me in your arms someday//And I will be wearing your lacy lingerie"
I had to hang onto his shoulder and sing this into his ear.
And then I had to spin around stage with him.
You might not think that this is that bad...but allow me to explain Triever with a simple analogy:
Sirius Black.
I kid you not. The French girls love him, the Freshmen love him, he's even got a few upperclassmen fangirls.
He's obnoxious, annoying, and is amused by seeing people in pain.
HE IS SIRIUS BLACK.
(Except most of the girls in my year can't stand him. XD)
Also: Ashley was supposed to trip him, and during the dress rehearsal I couldn't stop laughing after he fell.
...Er. Yes. This was supposed to be about the cabaret in general, not my having to sing to Triever.
Right. So.
Hunter was FANTASTIC. He sang "Winter's On The Wing" from The Secret Garden.
Jack and Triever were... eh.
Angela, Ashley, and Katie... well you can tell that they made State Chorale. XD
Mallory was fantastic as well, and McKinnon was good.
I refuse to comment on the two Freshmen. Because they're not Level Twos and Threes who have had loads of practice and experience with Doug and Ken.
